Get your copy of:"A HISTORY of ATLANTA, MISSOURI & SURROUNDING AREAS" In Commemoration of Atlanta's Sesquicenteennial Celebration l858-2008. Atlanta's l50th birthday is being memorialized with the publication of this l50 page plus book, loaded with historical text, pictures and photographs which describe the area's history from its earliest origins to the present. Status: The book is much larger and better than we ever dreamed when we started it. We have heard from "old" friends from all over the country with roots in Atlanta wanting to have their family histories included. This along with the weather has slowed us, but it makes for a much better book. We hope to complete the book by Spring. I would like to quote from one family (second generation) who came from Sweden and Denmark. "Our family lived in the era of the great depression and we learned to live frugally and to know how to work, but we also learned to be thankful for our blessings and to be thankful to be Americans." This lady is 86 years old and the only one of eight children living. That paragraph is just for your information, but several have made similar remarks. The main thing is that we need more orders for books. |

In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the KentuckyGenWeb project. This grew into the USGenWeb project, and eventually the WorldGenWeb project. At the same time, volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web page.
If you would like to volunteer for a county in Missouri, contact
Larry Flesher, State Coordinator
