I am a descendent of the Bealmear family that settled Howard and Macon counties well before the Civil War. We have some great documentation, including a memoir written in the 1930s and dealing with pre-Civil War events. We also have about 37 letters that were written between family members in Western Kentucky and Macon County starting in the 1840s. (Many of the letters were from the Atlanta, Mo., area). The family settled in Howard County in about 1821 or 1822 and then some of them moved up the Chariton Valley where they homesteaded. Have you any records or information about the Bealmears? From the information I have, I believe they farmed land about a few miles south of Atlanta. The family is actually somewhat historic...dating back to the 1750s or so in Maryland, where one of them reputedly served with Lafayette. In Mo., they are the subject of a court case that made state law regarding wills. My maternal grandfather, Russel Bealmear of Chicago, sued and broke his father's (Alfred's) second will in the late 1940s. The case was tried in Adair County. I'd be interesed in anything you might know. Thank you. Tom Dolan

Researching TETER and DAY movement from Pendleton County, West Virginia. Absolom DAY, b1795 Married Leah Teter, b1799 in WVA. They moved around the 1830's to Macon Co. MO. Their son, Annanias DAY, b1825, married his first cousin, Mary TETER, b1827 [her parents were: Phillip TETER, b1799 and Rebecca Graham, b 1805]. I'm trying to connect up Absolom with his brothers back in West Virginia. Some moved to Missouri but went back and others stopped at Ohio. Also would like to connect to Rebecca Ann Day (Annias/Mary's daughter) marriage to Jacob Lewis McDANIEL. Have no record of the marriage, only approximately. What's puzzling about this one is that Jacob previously married an Elizabeth DAY, daughter of an Edward DAY, which I do have a record of but can't find any connections between either the families or locations (he must have just liked the surname, the first wife died suddenly after the marriage).
Would enjoy hearing from anyone that connects into these families.
