Before asking for a lookup, please read this:

The following volunteers have gratiously offered to do lookups in Dallas County books. Contrary to what some people assume, the USGenWeb project is staffed by volunteers who do not receive any compensation for their work. County coordinators and lookup volunteers contribute their time and effort as a favor to genealogy researchers.

When sending your request please help them help you by being as specific as possible. They are under no obligation to answer you if your request is too vague or it doesn't conform to these guidelines:

  1. Some people have volunteered for more than one county. Therefore, please make it clear in the Subject line or body of your email that your lookup request applies to Dallas County, Missouri.
  2. Please ask for only one or two specific names, not "all the Smiths", etc. Such requests are excessive both in terms of volunteer time and effort, and in the "fair use" provisions of copyright law.
  3. Please specify the Publication you would like the the volunteer to use. If your ancestor isn't in that publication, the volunteer may consult a similar publication, at her own discretion, as time permits.
  4. Please remember to thank the volunteer for her or his time and effort to help you.

See our list of Genealogy Publications to see how you can get your own copy of many of these valuable resources. If you have many Dallas County ancestors, having your own copies of these publications is cost effective, and it helps to support the research efforts of the organizations such as the Dallas County Historical Society that produce them.
