Magee Family

Stoddard County Magee's can be traced back to the 1660's in Virginia with John C. Magee and further
but not yet published that the Magee's were related to Christopher Martin that sailed to America on the "Mayflower".

Census in 1820 listed 38-40 Magee's living on the North Carolina and Virginia border, other documents indicating
they were there as early as begining of the 1600's.

Magee's moved from Virginia and North Carolina as a family, and on to Tennessee in the early 1850's and in the
mid 1850's made the migration to Stoddard County, to farm the rich soil.

Also included with the Magee family during this migration were the "Barham's" a family that married into the
Magee's. In fact, various historical records indicate these families knew each other from early North Carolina
and Virginia records, i.e. Harmon Magee (b. 1760) married Martha Barham (b.1763) 27 Dec 1781 Stokes County, Va.
The Barham genealogy goes back almost to begining of recorded time.

My lineage begins with my Father James E. Jackson,Jr. (b.1918) Bloomfield, Stoddard County.
My Grandfather James E. "ED"Jackson,Sr.(b.1882) Bloomfield,Stoddard County) who married
Stella Ann Magee (b 1891 Bloomfield,Stoddard County) and continues

John Andrew Magee (b.1865)Myra Ann Barham (b.1868)
Isaac Magee (b.1829) Juvanda Linville (b.1829)
Littleton Magee(b.1794) Elizabeth Allen(b.1784)
Harmon Magee (b.1760) Martha Barham (b.1763)
Robert Magee (b.1738) Priscilla Gilliam (b.1740)
Ralph Magee (b.1720) Ann Clanton (b.1721)
John C. Magee(b.1690) Lydia Marsh(b.1694)

It is not possible for me to list all related families, and it would be within reason to say a good portion of
Stoddard County citizens are in some way related to these early families.
