I am researching a McINTIRE/McENTIRE family that settled in the Belleview Valley area in a town called Caledonia, Mo. Earliest known ancester was Charles McIntire b.1818 in Ohio, and married Susan Hurt in Missouri . May have had connections to Iron county. Do you have information related to this group of McIntires? If so, I would be interested in sharing with you.
Thanks, Jim Kidd in Texas Txcisco@aol.com

I'm searching for any Washington Co., MO records or references thereto for Jeptha SUMPTER, a physician, and his wife, Eliza A., perhaps her maiden name was ASHER.

The only Missouri record which I have on them is the following 1850 Reynolds Co., MO census. I suspect that between 1840 and 1850 they were living near Oates, MO. They were probably married in Washington Co., MO about 1840.

1850 Reynolds Co., MO Census; 76th District, page 395b, Dwelling/Family 97:

Jeptha SUMPTER   M   W   44   VA   physician
Eliza A. F W 26 TN illiterate
Marian F W 19 IL (dau of previous wife, Margaret JORDON)
Caleb M W 9 MO
Jessee M W 7 MO
Abraham M W 5 MO
Henry M W 2 MO

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

A murder trial was held later in 1870 in St. Louis County. James´ death was reported in the Washington County Mortality Journal in early April 1870.

Name: Von Johnston
I am seeking information on the parents of my great grandfather, James Monroe JOHNSTON. He was born in Washington County on July 14, 1837. I believe he was the oldest of four children, the last two children were twins born between 1846 and 1848. James had a brother, William, who was born in 1844 or 1845. It is possible that his mother´s first name was Curency, born about 1816 in Virginia. I believe her maiden name was THOMPSON. Apparently, James´ father was killed in the Mexican-American War. The family moved to Reynolds County at a later date and they are listed there on the 1870 census.

I am looking for the burial places for:

Patrick MITCHEL died after 29 June 1870 but before the 1870 census. He was born 1792 Ireland. John Mitchel(l) born 1820-34 Ireland died feb 8 1874 Mary McDonnell MITCHEL(L) born ca 1833 Cincin. Ohio d 22-July 1870 (childbirth).

Anne McDonnell DONAHUE wife of Hugh Donahue. Unknown death date.

These were Catholic folks and Mary especially likely to have been buried in a churchyard.( my father's cousin remembers as a young girl her mother and grandmother going to a churchyard cemetery to visit Mary Mitchel's grave) Are there cemetery listings available for St James Church? Are there Parish death records for St James Church between 1866-1875? From the records copied on microfilm, it seems they were between Priests.. Eugene OHeay and M. Reilly. Thank you for any clues you may provide.

I am looking for information on the descendants of Charles E. KING, b. 1871 (IL) and Daniel King, b. 1879 (Washington County, MO). They were sons of Daniel and Lucy M. King. I am a descendant of the oldest child in the family, Clarence E. King, b. 1868 (IL). Clarence married in AR in 1889 and lost contact with his family, and none of his descendants have any information at all on the rest of the family. It is believed that Daniel King (Sr.) died between 1880 and 1890. The only information I have on the family is from the 1880 Washington County census which indicates they were living in Concord township. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Looking for others working on the MIDGETT (MIDYETT) and MASON lines in Washington County MO. My 3rd ggf was James H. MIDGETT. He was born abt 1831 in TN and was living in Washington Co. MO by 1849 when he married Belinda Caroline MASON (25 Jul 1829 - 16 Mar 1868). His second wife was Amanda Jane GILLIAM ( Apr 1838 - Aft 1900). Her first husband was David C. MASON who died in Sep 1864.

I believe James H. MIDGETT is the brother of Jefferson Layfayette MIDYETT, SR. (1837 - 1899) I also believe that Belinda Caroline MASON is the daughter of Robert MASON and Sally ?. I further belive that the Robert MASON mentioned above was the brother of Joshua MASON (30 Sep 1809 - 13 Jun 1898). The daughter of Joshua MASON and Marina A., Irene MASON, married Jefferson L. MIDYETT, Sr.
