Abstract
This document is a transcription of the entries in the “Trustee Account Book” for Taylor Township, Sullivan County, Missouri. This book was found in some material left on a farm in Taylor Township sold by Gene and Catherine Forson to W. Elsworth and Hethie L. Smith around 1950. It was rediscovered by Elsworth in January, 2000 and given to the author of this document.

The book is a ledger documenting funds paid out and received by Taylor Township for the dates from July 1, 1913 through May 17, 1915. It lists financial transactions for two major types of funds, School (by Taylor Township section) and Township (Roads, Bridges, Tax etc.) The ledger book was published by Geo. D. Barnard Co. of St. Louis, MO, Stock no. 547971 and comprises pages 1 to 49. Each page had two parts, the left-most page for Receipts and the right-most page for Expenditures, with each part bearing the same page number.

Each fund was listed separately on every other page thereby leaving room for any entries that might have overflowed to the next page for the fund. For the school funds, each side was divided into two sections corresponding to two school years. For example, page 1A of Fund 2-61-21 records July 1, 1913 to April 11, 1914 in the first section and July 1, 1914 to March 13, 1915 in the second section and likewise for page 1B.

Introduction
As to be expected in a financial document, it contains little of value to genealogical researchers. However, there are numerous people mentioned, many more than once, all with dates. I have listed every name in the book except for some pages where the same person was listed for several consecutive months. The actual ledger book contains no other genealogically useful information other than what has been transcribed herein.

In many cases, full names were not given. I have transcribed them exactly as written and in some cases I have placed a (?) next to those names I could not read with certainty. I did not record the financial details of each transaction as they had no significance relative to the purpose of this document.

My transcriptions follow this format. The left most page was labeled “a” for example 5a and likewise the rightmost page was labeled “b” as in 5b. These page numbers are found within each page’s transcription. No pages with entries were omitted in this transcription. If a page number is not given, it was blank. Original separation of entries by fiscal year was maintained in the transcription. Some sequential duplicates were eliminated, as they provided no additional information.

The original ledger book, along with a copy of this document, will be donated in the future to the Sullivan County Historical Society in Milan, Missouri.
