ELSA A. VOGT
August 10, 1911 - July 1, 2008

Elsa Vogt was born August 10, 1911 near Rockville in Bates County,
Missouri. She was the third of eight children born to Leonard and
Lydia (Hammer) Vogt. At the age of four, Elsa was struck by infantile
paralysis (polio). She nevertheless attended public and parochial
(Lutheran) schools in Prairie City, Missouri. Elsa stayed on the home
farm most of the time until 1940. She then moved to Los Angeles,
California and worked in electronics for 30 years. After that she
returned to Missouri and stayed with her mother in Prairie City for
two years. In 1973 she bought a home of her own in Appleton City,
Missouri. Elsa is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod
and always sang in the choir. She recently moved to a senior citizens’
apartment complex in Appleton City. Elsa is very close to her family
and her hobbies are knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing. Elsa
was always happy and friendly to everyone she met. Preceding her in
death were her parents; three sisters, Viola Russell, Clara Bracher
and Florence Gast; and three brothers, Ernest Vogt, Leonard Vogt and
Oswald Vogt. Survivors include her brother Arthur Vogt of Rochester,
New York; a sister-in-law Esther Vogt of Appleton City, Missouri;
numerous nieces and nephews.
