William Long, a well known resident of this city died at the hospital in La Grande Thursday night, November 19, 1908; at the age of 40 years. Death resulted from typhoid fever, with which deceased had been suffering for several weeks. The remains will be shipped from La Grande to Summerville tomorrow morning and the funeral services will be held in the Summerville Methodist church at 11 a.m. followed by the interment in the Summerville cemetery, where other members of the family rest.

William Long was well known in Northern Union county and has for the past several years operated a sawmill near this city. He wa an energetic, upright and moral citizen who was held in high esteem by all who knew him, and besides his wife, and daughter, Mrs. Wm. Breshears, he leaves a host of friends to mourn his loss. Another daughter preceded him to the grave only a few weeks ago and the sorrow of her death had much to do with bringing on the last and fatal disease. He was a member of Rock Wall Camp No. 700 W.O.W. and Elgin Aerie No. 389 F.O.E. and while all funeral arrangements were not made at the time we go to press these orders will no doubt have charge of the services. He held a $1000 insurance policy in the Woodmen.
