Vincel A. Ballard, 85, Independence, died Friday, September 16, 2005, at Cedar Valley Health Center. Funeral service will be September 20, at Carson-Speaks Chapel, Independence. Private burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mr. Ballard was born on August 15, 1920, to Georgie and Ruth Ballard in Lowry City. He had been a dairy farmer and construction worker most of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Clinton VFW.
He was preceded in death by a son David in 1989.
He is survived by his wife Laretha J. Ballard; three children, Cheryl Furnell, Gary Ballard and Lisa Ballard; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and 11 nieces and nephews.
