MRS. G.V. (Orpha) HIGGINS

Death In California of Mrs. G.V. Higgins - News came to Appleton City
Monday of the death of Mrs. G.V. Higgins, longtime resident of
Appleton City, now of California.
Mrs. Claud Dean of Deepwater, sister of Mr. Higgins, received the word
Friday, January 5, that Mrs. Higgins had passed away that day at a
hospital in San Bernardino, Calif., where she and Mr. Higgins had been
living for a while. She suffered a second stroke on December 31st.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Dark (Geneva) Shipley
of Anderson, Mo., who is ill at the hospital in Stella, Mo. One son,
Leo, of Yucca Valley, Calif.; also three other daughters, two reside
in San Bernardino and one in the state of Washington.
Mrs. Higgins is also survived by four brothers: Sine and Man Hooper,
Butler, Mo.; Alva Hooper, Kansas City, and Jesse Hooper, who has been
in the hospital at Osceola for two years.
Mr. Higgins is reported to be in very poor health. Mr. and Mrs.
Higgins left Appleton City about two years ago, going to California
for their health. They spent most of their married life in and near
Appleton City and were valued members of the First Baptist Church.
At the time the news was received here, there was no date set for the
funeral services for Mrs. Higgins as no burials are permitted in the
state of California on Sunday.
