ABBIE MAY BIRDSONG

Funeral services were Thursday, april 16 at 2 p.m. at Collins Baptist
Church for May Birdsong who died after a lingering illness at
Sac-Osage Hospital April 14 at the age of 73 years, 11 months and ten
days.
Officiating at the service was Rev. C.J. Bybee and Rev. Bill Keller.
Music was provided by Mrs. Artie Lee Peterie and Mrs. Zelpha
Culbertson with Mrs Violet Sitton as pianist.
Pallbearers were Coy Waite and Lytle Barnett, Lee Majors, Glen Doman,
Leo Kellers and Stewart Vickers. Burial was made in Robinson cemetery
under the direction of Goodrich Funeral Home.
Abbie May Birdsong, daughter of Willis W. and Nora Shockley was born
near Collins, Missouri on May 4, 1896.
She was married to William Birdsong on Jan 11, 1914. To this union
three children were born; one daughter, Vera Gillespie, Osceola,
Missouri; two sons, Ralph, Independence, Missouri and Ervin,
Snohornish, Washington.
At the age of 18, she was converted at the Weaubleau. Missouri Baptist
Church. At her death her membership was in the Hickory Grove Baptist
Church near Humansville, Missouri.
Her husband, Rev. Birdsong died August 31, 1959. She was, also,
preceded in death by her father and mother.
She is survived by her three children; one sister, Laura Mae Glaze,
Coffey, Missouri; two brothers, Jodie shockley, East Lynn, Missouri
and Mark Shockley, Kansas; nine grandchildren and fifteen
great-grandchildren.
