LEONARD GEORGE GLASER

Leonard George Glaser was born October 23, 1916 in rural Westphalia,
Kan., to Jesse and Katie Breithaupt Glaser. He passed away Sunday,
Oct. 15, 2006, at the Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kan.
He grew up in the Scott Valley neighborhood in eastern Coffey County
and graduated from Burlington High School. On April 2, 1941 he and
Verda Mae Cauthon were married at Osceola, Mo. On December 18, 1942,
Leonard entered the U.S. Army. He served overseas during World War II
and was discharged on December 7, 1945. He returned to Osceola where
he and Veda farmed until moving to their farm near LeRoy in 1950 where
Leonard continued to farm the rest of his working life. Leonard was
baptized in the Southern Baptist Church in Missouri. He served on the
District 88 Rural School Board near LeRoy and was a member of Post 313
of the American Legion of LeRoy. His parents and two brothers, Raymond
and Orlin Glaser, as well as his wife, Veda, preceded him in death.
Leonard is survived by his two daughters, Linda Hess and her husband,
Larry, from Highland, Ill., Carolyn Harvey and her husband, Gail from
LeRoy, Kan.; grandchildren Tasha and LaNesha Harvey, Tom Hess and his
wife, Candy, and his four great-grandchildren.
Services for Leonard were Friday, Oct. 20, at the First Christian
Church in Leroy, Kan. Interment at Logue Cemetery east of Leroy under
the direction of Jones Funeral Home, Burlington, Kan.
