JOEL A. ARRINGTON

Joel A. Arrington, 87, Collins, passed away Monday, March 17, 2008, at St. John's Health System in
Springfield.
Mr. Arrington was a longtime Collins area resident and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Among local survivors is his wife, Edith, of the home.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel in Osceola. Burial under
the direction of the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home will be in the Macedonia Cemetery near Osceola.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. Saturday at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel in Osceola.

Joel Anderson Arrington was born on January 12, 1921 in McIntyre, Georgia to Albert and Bertha [Stinson]
Arrington and passed away on March 17, 2008 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
On August 11, 1944, Joel was united in marriage to Edith L. Holleman inSpringfield, Missouri and to this
union, four sons were born. He actively served in the United States air Force from 1942 to 1951. His last
tour was in Tachikawa, Japan. In 1949 his family joined him and while they were there, his son Raymond
was born. After returning to the U.S., he was stationed in California for a year before returning to the Kansas City area. He lived and worked in Kansas City for TWA at the Richards-Gebaur Base.
Joel retired from the Air Force Reserves in 1971 and moved to the farm in 1972.. He enjoyed working in his
garden, raising pink gourmet tomatoes, cutting wood, fishing, especially catching crappie and catfish and
deer hunging with his sons and grandsons.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Frances, Louella and Floried and brothers, Stinson and
Robert.
Joel is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edith, one sister Mildred Smith and three sons, Rick Arrington
and wife Teresa, Bob Arrington and his wife Clarinda and Ray Arrington and his wife Rosalyn. Six
grandchildren, Deanne Sharpless, Dan Arrington, Robby Arrington, Rusty Arrington, Wiliam Arrington and Jessica Arrington, three great grandchildren, Grace Sharpless, Lauren Sharpless and Madyson Arrington; other relatives and many friends.
Services were Saturday, March 22 at Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel with Greg Mangum officiating.
Musical selections were "I'm Gonna Miss Her", "ElPaso", "Lord You gave Me A Mountain" and "I Walk
Alone".
Casketbearers were Robby Arrington, Rusty Arrington, Deanne Sharpless, Dan Arrington, William Arrington and Jessica Arrington.
Interment was in the Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola, MO.
