GERALDINE VEST
Geraldine Vest, 87, Weaubleau, went to be with her Lord and Savior
on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008. Geraldine was born in Collins, on Dec. 26,
1920, to the late Louis and Settie Jane Boswell.
She and the late Forrest Gilbert were united in marriage in 1941. Two
children were born of that marriage. She and the late Clyde Vest were
married until his death in 1984.
Geraldine loved working in the garden and canning all kinds of fruits
and vegetables. She loved to go
fishing with her kids and grandkids and always had a sack full of
fried egg sandwiches. In later years, she
loved to meet her friends for coffee and visit every day.
In addition to her husbands, Geraldine was preceded in death by
brothers, Bill and Murl (Tiny) Boswell, and
sisters, Pearl Apple, Faye West and Mae Shockley.
She will be remembered and missed by her family: son, Louis Gilbert
and wife, Susan – Rolla; daughter,
Glenda Gipson and husband, Ray – Weaubleau; sister Pauline Hinkle –
Weaubleau; grandchildren – Tania
Lambert and husband, Paul – Rolla, Chris Gilbert – Rolla, Dallas
Bowling and husband, Ryan – Nixa; four great-grandchildren – Eden,
Mercedes, River and Hope – all of Rolla, and a host of nieces and
nephews.
Services were held on Monday, Feb. 18, at the First Baptist Church of
Weaubleau with Rev. Jimmie Stewart and Paul May officiating. Special
music was, “Amazing Grace,” Revelation,” “I Call It Home” and “Knowing
You'll Be There,” with Louie Dee Gilbert.
Casketbearers were Roger Foster, J. W. Lantrip, Paul Lambert, Gary
Martin, Ryan Bowling and Joe Vernon. Honorary casketbearers were Chris
Gilbert, Paul May and River McCann. Interment was in the Robinson
Cemetery under the direction of the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home –
Osceola.
