Former area resident struck by car, killed. Osceola, Mo.
A 68 year oldformer Kansass City, Kansas man died Wednesday after
being struck by a car on Missouri 13, two miles south of Osceola.
The Missouri Highway Patrol said the victim, Floyd E. Pruett, was
struck by a northbound car, while he was collecting cans along the
road. The car, driven by June Hilbrich of West Plains, Mo., swerved
off the right side of the road. The driver was taken to an Osceola
hospital, with minor injuries, the patrol said and Mr. Pruett was
pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr. Pruett was a machine operator for the Vess Cola Bottling Co.
before he retired.
He was born near Willow Springs, Mo., and lived in Kansas City, Kansas
for 40 years before he moved to Osceola in 1977.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary Pruett of the home, a son, Jerry C.
Pruettand two daughters, Mrs. Patricia V. Romines and Mrs. Gail Sims,
all of Kansas City, Kansas; three stepsons, Ray Cannon, Littleton,
Colo., Floyd Cannon, Redlands, CA, and Dale Studdard, Independence;
three brothers, Albert Pruett and Ralph Pruett of Mtn. View, Mo;
Roscoe Pruett of Kansas City, Kansas; four sisters, Mrs. Mildred
Dillon, Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs.Verda Swenson and Mrs. Ollie Emmerich
of Mtn. View and Mrs. Hattie Curnutt, Willow Springs; and 10
grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. today at the Goodrich Chapel, burial in
the Osceola Cemetery.
