Edith Frances George

William F. and Ann Eliza George, grandparents of Edith Frances George,
moved from Ohio to Vista in 1865. Edith was born to Joseph Austin and
Eunice McCoy George in Vista on Sept. 19, 1913. She passed away March
15, 2007, at the age of 93. Joseph and Eunice had six children,
Walter, Boyd, H.W., Joey, Margorie "Peggy" and Edith "Pank". Edith was
the youngest of the six children. When she was one month old, Edith's
family moved to her grandparents' farm, where Joseph, Eunice, Boyd,
Peggy and Edith remained until their respective deaths.
The George children, except Joey who passed away at the age of four,
attended school at Bradford. The Bradford School was located on the
Cox/Harris plantation, now the George Ranch. Edith received her
teaching certification from Central Missouri State College in
Warrensburg in 1931 and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1953. Her first
teaching job was at Bradford. She later taught at Dillon and Duncard.
Edith taught in these three rural schools for a total of 10 years. She
retired from Osceola Schools after teaching first grade there for 36
years. Edith's teaching career spanned a total of 46 years.
Edith was a lifelong member of the Vista United Methodist Church.
Services for Edith were Monday, March 19, at the Sheldon-Goodrich
Chapel with Reverend Janice Beadleston officiating.
Musical selections were "He Touched Me", "In The Garden" and
"Whispering Hope" by Jodi Burch.
Casketbearers were Eric Brockus, Daniel Wisner, Jimmi Foltz, Mickey
Vanswearingen, Stephen Wheeler, Cody Peery and Kevin Chapman.
Interment was in the Osceola Cemetery under the direction of
Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.

Ms. Edith Frances George, 93, of Osceola, MO, passed away on March 15,
2007 at Sac-Osage Hospital. A long time school teacher in Osceola and
loved by all who knew her. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday,
March 19 at Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home in Osceola, MO
