Bert A. Gillespie was born June 12, 1909, to Ervin and Elsie Lucas Gillespie. He passed away October 14, 1991, at the Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City. He was born near Vista and was a lifelong area resident.
He retired from the Hoisting Portable Engineers after working as a blade operator for 25 years.
He met his wife, Arretta, at a Deepwater picnic in 1928. They were married in 1930, and to this union a son and two daughters were born. Bert and Arretta celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on Saturday, October 12, 1991. He enjoyed fishing and gardening in his retirement.
He is survived by his wife; Arretta, of the home; one son, Wyman Bert Gillespie of Claycomo; two daughters, Vanita Allen of Olney Springs, Colorado, and Peggy Delaney of Belton; one sister, Mrs. Maxine Jones of Adrian; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were Wednesday, October 16, at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel in Osceola. Burial was in Osceola Cemetery.
