James Richard Gettings was born April 16, 1966 in Cape Girardeau, to William "Bill" and Stephen Lynn Peal Gettings. He passed away at his home in Lowry City on Nov. 3, 2007 after a two year illness.
After graduation from high school Richard studied electronics, audio and video equipment in the Navy and in private business.
After completing his enlistment in the Navy Richard worked as a troubleshooter and bench technician for various companies including Applied Micro Technologies, Duncan Aviation and Colortyme.
He loved his work and was responsible for various tasks such as building test equipment, maintaining service manuals, meeting or exceeding FCC specifications and avionics and other highly challenging assignements.
Rich was a loving son. As his health declined the past two years he made his home in Lowry City with his parents. Their level of affection for each other is now a great comfort for his surviving family.
Rich is survived by his parents of the home; one daughter, KC Rae Gettings and one brother, William Keith Gettings.
No services are planned. Cremation was under the direction of the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home in Osceola. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Richard's family suggests contributions to the donor's local D.A.R.E. Chapter.
