Billy Taylor Woods was born on a farm near Stockton June 1, 1919, to
Alva B. and Molly Castleberry Woods and died Monday, December 29,
2003, at Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola. He was 84.
He farmed with his father and was a veteran of World War II, serving
his country in the Army Air Corps from 1941-45, serving 32 months in
Australia and New Guinea.
He married Donna Lou Wilson of Deepwater November 7, 1944. He was
employed with Dickey Tile Factory in Deepwater, 1946-1953, along with
crop farming and milking cows. He worked on numerous construction jobs
and with the beginning ground work at the Kansas City Power and Light
Plant in Montrose.
He was preceded in death by his wife Donna Lou; his parents, Alva and
Molly Woods; brothers, Arlie and Harry Molder, Guy Woods, sisters,
Clara Sampsel, Bessie Armstrong, Jesse Armstrong and two
great-granddaughters.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Harvey and Carolyn
Woods, Roscoe; daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie and Larry Cutler,
Della and Jerry Peterson, Fairen Coleman, Glindell and Robert Price
Jr., Cleta and Mike Clark, Taloa and Johnny Culbertson, Lowry City,
Naressa and Ed Veach, Osceola; 22 grandchildren, 23
great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Abbie
Woods, Lowry City; sister, Flossie Bledsoe, Clinton; numerous nieces
and nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were Friday, January 2, at Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel,
Osceola. Burial was in Deepwater Cemetery.
