Puffenbarger Service At Mt. Zion
Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa Puffenbarger, 86, who died June 2 at the Ellett Memorial Hospital were conducted at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, at the Church of God (Holiness) in Appleton City by the Rev. Charles Welch. Pallbearers were Claude Coleman, Vincent Engeman, Elvin Marshall, Ross Wingfield, Everett Nichols and Robert Nichols. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Rosa William Bagwell was born Jan. 11, 1877 near Clinton, the daughter of Samuel W. and Lucy Silvers Bagwell.
In 1893 she married James Puffenbarger at Warsaw and to this union a son, Alva Edward, was born. Her husband preceded her in death in 1943.
She had lived on a farm near Monegaw for some time and in 1944 moved to 113 East First Street in Appleton City, which remained her home.
While in her teens she was baptized by a Baptist minister. She was most faithful in attendance at the Church of God (Holiness) in Appleton City.
"Aunt Judy", as Mrs. Puffenbarger was affectionately known, made many friends and was devoted to her family.
She leaves a son, Alva, of Tiffin, Mo.; a foster daughter, Mrs. Gene (Ruth) Hughes of Jerome, Idaho; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.
