OPAL McCLENDON
Appleton City Journal
Appleton City, MO
Thursday, 1 February 1917
Opal, the little fourteen-months old babe of Mr. and Mrs. McClendon, who
reside in the southeast part of the city, died very suddenly last
Saturday night about eight o’clock. The child had been very weakly all
of its life, or almost so, but its death came as a surprise as it was as
well as usual to all appearances. Mr. and Mrs. McClendon are comparative
strangers in the town, having lived here only about two months. That
kindness that is a common characteristic of the kind-hearted people of
Appleton City was very manifest in connection with this misfortune.
A brief funeral service was conducted by H.E. Carpenter, Christian
minister, at 1:30 Sunday afternoon, after which the remains were
interred in the City Cemetery.
