John T. Adamson
From an ailment dating several months ago, John T. Adamson, elder
brother of Dode Adamson, departed this life at 12:20 Tuesday morning,
September 9th, at his home in Osceola, Mo.
The funeral services were conducted in the Methodist Church in Osceola
by Rev. B.F. Lawler and the interment was in Englewood Cemetery in
Clinton on Wednesday afternoon, his relatives from Montrose being
present. Rev. Mills Anderson, of Osceola, accompanied the body to
Clinton.
John T. Adamson, son of the late William and Frances Jane Adamson, was
born September 12, 1844, in Vernon County, Mo., lacking three days of
being seventy-five years old. The family moved to Henry County in 1849.
He was married to Sarah Margaret Lindsay on April 20, 1865.
Two daughters survive him, Mrs. W.W. Kitchen, of Edith, Kansas, and Mrs.
Hackman, of St. Louis. Mrs. Kitchen was with him constantly in his last
sickness and he had every attention that love and money could devise.
The mother of these two daughters died several years ago.
More recently he was married to Mrs. John Wilson, of Deepwater, who
survives him, together with a brother, W.W. (Dode) Adamson, of Montrose,
Mrs. Bayard, of Clinton, and Mrs. Robert Fewell, of Oregon. Mr. Adamson
belonged to a lineage of illustrious families, among whom were the
Arbuckles and Davises.
For many years he owned and lived upon an excellent estate four miles
south of Osceola, where Mrs. Adamson often entertained their many
friends from the country and the city.
Both Mrs. Adamson and he are now gone. Peace to their ashes.
