Nola Neoma “Kate” Dull was born January 5, 1919 to Perry and Autna
Thompson Gilbert and passed away October 11, 1997 at Sac-Osage
Hospital in Osceola, Mo.
On December 17, 1940 she was united in marriage to Orvel Dull at
Stockton, Mo. Two sons were born to this union, James Leon and Orvel
Dean. Kate and Orvel enjoyed 56 years together before Orvel’s death on
July 2, 1997. They lived a short time near Stockton, Mo and in the
stated of Colorado before moving to the Lowry City community, where
they resided until their deaths. Kate was born and raised in the Bird
Song community, west of Collins, Mo and often talked of walking to
church and school in the area. As a young girl she was saved at Brush
Creek Church. Kate was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who
will always be remembered for her gentle, kind and loving nature. She
worked for a short time at Truman Lake Manor in Lowry City and in the
1960’s served as head cook in the cafeteria at the Lowry City Schools.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and cooling and he outstanding
ability to do these things are very evident to those who were near
her. She will certainly be missed and fondly remembered by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvel, by one son Orvel
Dean, her parents Perry and Autna, four brothers, Otis, Perry Jr,
Duane and George Gilbert and one sister, Juanita Simons.
She is survived by her son Leon and daughter-in-law Beverly Ann of
Lowry City, five grandchildren, Jeff Dull and his wife Stephanie of
Lowry City, Tim Dull and his wife Dava of Lowry City, Kristi Ott and
her husband of Lee’s Summit, and Lynn Dull of Warrensburg, Mo, seven
great-grandchildren, Alyx, Cooper, Dalton, and Gable Dull of Lowry
City, Samantha Jo and Timothy Dean Rogers of Raymore, Mo, Kaitlyn of
El Dorado Springs, Mo, six brothers Paul Gilbert of Dowagiag,
Michigan, Norman Gilbert of Ridgeway, CA, Durl, Gene, Lynn Ray, and
Larry Gilbert of El Dorado Springs, Mo, many nieces and nephews and
other relatives and may friends.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 14 at 2 p.m. at
Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel. Elder J. D. Baker is the minister. Music will
be provided by Charles Braithwait, Candi Baker, Dana Barbo, and Dava
Dull as accompanist. Casketbearers are Jeff Dull, Tim Dull, Jared Ott,
Doug Weakley, Gene Gilbert, Larry Gilbert, and Lynn Ray Gilbert.
Honorary Casketbearers are Timothy Dean Rogers, Cooper James Dull,
Dalton Leon Dull, and Gable Benjamin Dull.
Interment is at Kings Prairie Cemetery.
