WALTER HENRY HEARN

Walter Henry Hearn, son of Henry and Sylphy Hammond Hearn, was
born December 23, 1932, near Osceola, Mo. He passed away at Belton
Research Hospital on September 21, 1990, at the age of 57 years and
three months.
He grew up in the Bear Creek area and attended Concord School. Walter
was converted and Baptized in November 1948 at the Baptist Church in
Lowry City, Mo.
He was a retired Army veteran of 20 years having served in the Korean
and Vietnam wars. After retiring he was a car salesman, making his
home in Belton, Mo.
Walter was preceded in death by his father in 1972 and his mother in
1986.
He is survived by his wife Edna Jones Hearn, of the home, three
daughters, Tara Edmiston, of Kansas City, Mo., Gail Hunter, of La
Fayette, Ga., and Dale Sue Phillips, of Woodstock, Ga.; two sons,
David Ray Hearn, of Pittsburg, Kan. and J.D. Hearn, of Calhour, Ga.;
one step-son, Bobby Rice, of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers, Edgar
Hearn, of Buckner, Mo., Roy Hearn, of Raytown, Mo., and Claud Hearn,
of Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Norma L. Hannah and Mrs.
Esther McLerran, both of Osceola, Mo., and Mrs. Oletta Broyles, of
Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren and one step-granddaughter,
nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Walter made many friends throughout his army career and through his
car salesmanship. He will be sadly missed by his family, neighbors and
many friends.
Funeral services for Walter H. Hearn were held Monday, September 24,
at 11 a.m., at the Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel in Osceola with the Rev.
Jon Coe officiating. Music was provided by Jim Hearn, soloist and Gail
Friend accompanist.
Casketbearers were Dan Hearn, Jerry Hannah, Curtis McLerran, Rodney
McLerran, Jim Hearn, Chris Hannah, Nick McLerran and Don Broyles.
Interment, with military honors, provided by the American Legion Post
No. 618 and the VFW Post No. 4197, was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens,
with arrangements by Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home of Osceola, Mo.
