Mr. Thomas Jefferson Loftin, 94, better known as Jeff, was born in St. Clair County, Mo., on June 29, 1892, to Cornelus and Nannie Sims Loftin and passed away at the Clinton Hospital Sunday, Feb. 15, 1987.
He accepted his faith in Christ and was baptized at an early age.
He was united in marriage to Rena Bulah Hicks on Nov. 14, 1914. To this union was born eight children: Lewis Loftin, Alfred Loftin of Norfolk, Va.; Tommy Loftin of Raytown, Mo.; Essie Duddy, San Bernadino, Calif.; Helen Coleman, El Dorado Springs; Frances Porter, Kansas City, Mo.; Ruthie Kavanaugh, Sonora, Calif.; and Judy Vickers, Clinton. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Irene Daines, Taberville; and 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years in 1978, and one son, Lewis.
Jeff lived in Vista, Mo., and was a farmer until 1948, when he moved to California for a short while. He returned to Henry County where he spent the rest of his life. He was a carpenter and businessman for over 25 years. He lived in Urich before moving to Clinton in 1976.
All of his grandchildren were very special to him. He loved life and enjoyed living until the very end. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services were held at the Vansant Mills Funeral Home in Clinton on Feb. 18. Burial was in the Urich Cemetery.
