Beloved Father Called
Thomas M. Glen was born in Morgan County, Ohio, 1835; was married to Martha Grubb, Sept. 5, 1858. To this union were born five children: Ada E. Walker, of Appleton City, Mo., Mrs. Ida M. Bell, and Silas K. Glen of Kahoka, John A. Glen of Maysville, Mo., and Addie E., who died in infancy, born June 26, 1870. Martha Glen his wife died June 23, 1912, aged 76 years, 2 months and 1 day, at Kahoka, Mo. There are 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren living. He united with the M.E. church at St. Francisville, in 1874. Later he united with the Church of God at Hitchcock, Neb., moved to DeKalb County in 1897; he there united with the M.E. Church South, moved in 1906 to St. Clair county, Mo., came to Kahoka in 1910, where he lived until death, Aug. 22, 1919. He lived a consistent Christian life; his children and grandchildren all loved him. He was always a kind, faithful father and friend, honest in business, a man of integrity and worth to any community. He will be missed by business associates, by the G.A.R. (he being a veteran of the Civil war, his comrades bearing him gently to his last resting place), also by not only his own relatives but by many friends and acquaintances. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Protestant Church by the pastor, Rev. T.K. Holland. Interment in the beautiful cemetery near Kahoka – Free Press.
