THOMAS STERLING DOAK
February 3, 1938 - April 3, 2002
Thomas Sterling Doak, the son of Reverend Wilson Faris Doak and
Imogene Effie (Thomas) Doak was born on February 3, 1938 in Chilhowee,
Missouri. Tom passed away at the Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton
City, Missouri on April 3, 2002 at the age of 64 years. Tom lived most
of his life in the Lake Lotawana, Missouri area where he worked as an
electronic technician at Western Electric/AT&T at Lee’s Summit.
Following his retirement he moved to Mesquite, Texas, then moved back
to Appleton City in 1997 to care for his parents. Tom was a member of
the Methodist Church in Chilhowee, Missouri. He held several offices
in the CWA Union 6360 and was a life member of both the Lee’s Summit
Pioneers and the NRA. He was united in marriage to Della (McClarnon)
Ricketts in May of 1981 at Lake Lotawana Memorial Rose Garden. He was
preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife Della of
the home, son Jeffery and wife Kris of Lake Lotawana, Missouri,
daughter Kay Richards of La Monte, Missouri, son Leon and wife Kim
Ricketts of Burleson, Texas, two grandsons Tyler Doak and John
Ricketts, his mother Imogene Doak of Appleton City, one brother Wilson
Faris Doak Jr, and his wife Pat, one niece and two nephews. Tom liked
deer hunting and driving around the country enjoying the scenery and
wildlife while smoking his cigar. He also enjoyed cooking for people
and loved auctions and antiques. Tom found great peace and contentment
in going to the ocean and simply listening to the surf. He will be
sadly missed by his family and friends.
