Ray Dean Baumgarden was born September 27, 1926, near Gerster, MO to
Jessie and Lula Tucker Baumgarden. He passed away January 9, 1990, in
Newport, Oregon.
Ray was baptized at an early age and joined the Gerster Baptist
Church.
He was an Army veteran and served in World War II
Ray Dean had many years of crippling arthritis. He had been lovingly
cared for by relatives until the last few months, which his condition
had deteriorated to where he required professional care. Ray entered a
nursing care center in Newport, Oregon near his nephew, Harvey and
wife Betty, who saw to his needs until his passing.
He had expressed his desire to go to his eternal home where pain or
death cannot enter.
Ray is survived by one son, Kenneth Baumgarden, of Lexington, MO; two
daughters, Mrs. Sharon Smith and Mrs. Marsha Copeland, both of
Independence, MO; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Estes, of Weaubleau, Mo;
five grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relative and many friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Services were held on Saturday, January 13, at 1 p.m., at the
Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Dellinger officiating.
Music furnished by the Gerster Baptist Church Choir.
Casketbearers were Harvey Baumgarden, George Baumgarden, Cecil
Baumgarden, Willie Baumgarden, Alfred Baumgarden, and Wilbur Slocum.
Honorary Casketbearers were Everett Baumgarden and Bill Elton.
Interment was at Kings Prairie Cemetery under the direction of
Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home of Osceola, Missouri.
