Pierre Joseph Vanhoye Sr., 78, Osceola, died Monday, February 3, 2003, at St. Joseph Health Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 6, at D. W. Newcomer's Sons Longview Funeral Home. Interment will be at Longview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Vanhoye was born November 12, 1924, in Bicknell, Indiana, and was a supervisor for Gas Service Co. before retiring. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II and was awarded two Purple Hearts. He is survived by a daughter, Carole White and husband Larry; son, Pierre Vanhoye, Jr., both of Independence; daughter, Nancy DeLuca and husband Dan, Blue Springs; daughter, Shawn Hart and husband David, Raymore; brothers, Marcel Cretel, Leon Cretel, both of Lincoln, and Roland Cretel, Osceola; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
