ORVILLE OTIS GILBERT

Orville Otis Gilbert was born at Caplinger Mills on September 18,
1901, and died September 19, 1964, at the age of 63 years.
He was the son of William C. and Elsie Gilbert, the oldest of seven
children.
In 1927 he was united in marriage to Okla Lahoma Moyer. To this union
were born three sons, Olan of Richland, Mo., Nolan of Kansas City, and
Billy of Osceola.
He was a member of the First Baptist church of Richland.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, seven grandchildren, two brothers,
Virgil and Cecil, of Sullivan, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby Roof,
Mrs. Vineta Turner, Mrs. Mildred Richards, all of Springfield.
He was reared on a farm in Cedar county, attended high school at
Caplinger Mills, and graduated from Draughn’s Business College of
Springfield. He was employed by the Frisco Railway as
agent-telegrapher from 1918 until his retirement in 1957 as agent at
Richland.
Funeral services were held September 22 at 2:30 at the First Baptist
Church in Richland, with burial in Oakwood cemetery there.
Mr. Gilbert was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Alva Oakes and Mrs. Ula Moyer
of El Dorado Springs, and Mrs. W.R. Gannaway of Caplinger Mills.
