Ore Thomas Nicholas, Jr., son of William T. and Evelyn Victoria Dunham
Nichols, was born December 3, 1922, near Appleton City. He passed away
August 1, 1991, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in
Kansas City at the age of 68. Junior, as he was called by his friends
and family, spent most of his life in the Appleton City and Rockville
areas. He supported his family by working as a farm hand. He served
his country in the Army during World War II. He enjoyed hunting and
fishing and visiting with friends. He was preceded in death by his
parents and two daughters, Sandra Kay Mullen and Carolyn Sue Miller.
He is survived by one brother, Homer Nichols of Schell City; two
sisters, Delores Johnson of Harrisonville, and Mulreen Hamilton of
Norbourne; three grandchildren, Richard Mullin, Carla Stone and
Doniece Rice, and one great-grandson. He will be greatly missed by his
family and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 3,
1991, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Jim Walker officiating at the Eckhoff-Hill
Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Billy Nichols, Bobby Nichols, Ronnie
Nichols, Rodney Pettit, Johnny Parks and David Oehring. Burial was in
the Taberville Cemetery under the direction of Eckhoff-Hill Funeral
Home.
