Funeral services for Nellie Quaintance were held Friday, May 27 at
2:00 p.m. at the Gerster Baptist Church under the direction of the
Goodrich Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack Keifer was the officiating
minister and music was furnished by Donna Cruce, soloist with Patty
Parker as accompanist. Casketbearers were Ross Parker, Alton Parker,
C. F. Parker, Paul Edward Allen, Wendel Leiber and Steve Leiber.
Burial was in the King’s Prairie Cemetery.
Nellie Kathryn Quaintance, daughter of Charles R. and Lou Anna Parker,
was born April 24, 1907 and died on May 28, 1977 at the home in
Phoenix after a short illness.
She was married to Wilbur Allen and after his death she was married to
D. E. Quaintance. The couple had four children, Cecil Ross, Harley
Ray, of Phoenix, Ariz., Shirley Matatta, Phoenix and Leroy of Las
Vegas, Nev.
She was a member of the Gerster Baptist Church for many years and
later joined a Baptist church in Phoenix.
Mrs. Quaintance was a native of the Gerster area. She and her late
husband D. E. Quaintance operated a store and post office there.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Cecil A. Quaintance, Harley Ray
Quaintance and Mrs. Shirley Matatta, all of Phoenix and LeRoy
Quaintance, of Las Vegas, Nev.; six brothers, Alton Parker, Hermitage,
Harry and J. E. Parker, Canon City, Col, Floyd Parker, Fontana, Cal.,
C. F. Parker, Gerster and a sister, Mrs. Frances Rose of Springfield,
MO., also nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
