MAUDE ALICE (RUSH) URTON

Clinton MO - Mrs. Maude Urton of Blairstown died at the home of her daughter, Pauline, at 5 p.m. Monday,
December 12, near Jefferson City, where she had gone three weeks ago for a visit. She had not been robust
since a stroke about two years ago but was as well as usual and pneumonia, contracted while on the visit,
claimed her life. Maude Rush was born in February 1875, the daughter of John Rush and Mary Wall Rush of
old and distinguished Henry County family. She attended the local schools and became a member of the
Christian Church, a fine noble woman, generous to all, pleasant and kind, trusting to the extent of personal
loss at times, but never losing her confidence in the goodness of mankind. Marrying Mr. Urton in early life
she made her home at several different places in Missouri where he was employed by the Katy R.R., last
living at ElDorado Springs where he died about three years ago. After the death of her husband Mrs. Urton
moved back to the home of her girlhood, near her mother, who is now 89 years old. Mrs. Rush gave her
daughter 80 acres adjoining Blairstown and there she built a little new frame house and with her lived her
daughter, Mrs. Roy Nichols, and her husband. The other two Urton daughters also married, the above mentioned daughter of near Jefferson City, and a third daughter, Mrs. Glenn Harggart, of Kansas City. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Holland of Urich at the Presbyterian Church, Blairstown, and interment was in the Blairstown cemetery. W. R. Phipps, R. A. Wall, Will Simpson, Manford Hughes, Ira Wall and A. M. Wall acted as pallbearers.
