KEVIN WAYNE BARNES

Kevin Wayne Barnes was born on June 13, 1958 to J.W. and Joyce Barnes
and passed away on Jan. 20, 2007.
He spent his entire life west of Lowry City on highway A. Kevin grew
up down on the farm.
Kevin looked after his grandma until she died in 1995.
Kevin attended school at Lowry City elementary and high schools.
Kevin was a member of the first graduating class of Lakeland High
School. Throughout high school Kevin was an active member of the Lowry
City and Lakeland FFA Chapters, raising hogs and Polled Hereford cows
as his FFA projects. Kevin earned his Chapter Farmer Degree and was
FFA treasurer his senior year.
After completing his education he began working on the farm with his
dad and grandpa.
Throughout the years Kevin did a number of things in addition to
farming. For a few years he owned and operated Barnes' Liquor Store in
Osceola and later worked some evenings and weekends at a local
convenience store. His most recent venture was in 1993 when he
purchased the "Patio Drive-In" in Lowry City. He changed it from a
fast food restaurant to a nice sit down restaurant. Kevin operated the
restaurant until 2005 when he sold it to his friends John and Pat
Gover. After leaving the restaurant he worked on the farm.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Ruth Barnes
and Glen Ferguson and Josephine Ferguson Naylor and his beloved dog,
Martha.
He is survived by his parents, J.W. and Joyce Barnes; his sister,
Kathy and her husband, Chuck; four nieces and nephews; Dillon and
Cheyenne Davis of Lowry City, Jericko Beebe of Clinton and Katrina
Corbin of Osceola; two aunts, Lou Cornett of Lee's Summit and Harriet
Gilkeson and her husband, Kenneth of Brunswick; one uncle, Gene
Ferguson and his wife, Pat of Sedalia and so many friends it would be
impossible to mention them all.
Services were Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the Lowry City Cemetery.
Officiation by Sylvia Eldridge.
Interment was in Lowry City Cemetery under the direction of
Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.

Kevin Wayne Barnes, 48, passed away January 20, 2007 in Appleton City,
MO. Survivors include his parents, J.W. and Joyce Barnes; one sister,
Kathy Davis, all of Lowry City, MO. Graveside services 11 a.m. Wed.,
Jan. 21 at Lowry City Cemetery under direction of SheldonGoodrich
Funeral Home (417-646-8135).
