Lifelong Gerster Resident Dies
Funeral services were held in the Gerster Baptist Church Saturday
afternoon, Oct. 31 for John Edwin Tucker, who died Oct 29 on the farm
where he was born and had spent his entire life.
Officiating at the services were Rev. Charles A. Whaley and Rev. Tommy
Burgdorf. Burial was made in the Osceola cemetery under the direction
of Goodrich Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Omer Best, Edwin Lacey, Ira Miller, David King, Dewey
Wheeler, and Irwin Burns.
Mr. Tucker, son of Thomas and Cordelia Johndrow Tucker, was born near
Gerster March 5, 1900. In 1925 he was married to Edna Nickel. One
daughter, Peggy, Mrs. Jon Endley, was born to the couple. There are
tow granddaughters, Carolyn and Joylyn Endley. Other survivors are two
sisters, Mrs. Linnie Baxter and Miss Leona Tucker of Bolivar and two
brothers, Tobie of Bolivar and Homer of Osceola.
He was converted and baptized at an early age and has been a worker in
the Gerster Baptist church for many years.
