Obituary of Jesse F. Lutes
Jesse Franklin Lutes, son of Dolphus and Lucretia Lutes, was born south of Roscoe, Missouri, June 28, 1890, and passed away April 9, 1960, at the age of 69 years, 9 months, and 12 days. He grew to manhood in the Roscoe vicinity and was united in marriage on September 23, 1911 to Maggie Frances Morlan. To this union were born five children, two sons dying in infancy.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two sons, and one granddaughter.
He was widely known and has made many friends throughout the years. He was a truck driver from 1926 to the early 1940’s. He moved with his wife to Kansas City in 1945 where he was employed at a defense plant for a short time, going from there to the Sunshine Biscuit Company where he worked until June 1955, when he retired. In that same year he moved to 511 South Kirkpatrick, El Dorado Springs, where he was residing at the time of his death.
He suffered a heart attack on March 19, 1960 and was taken to Nevada hospital. He seemed to make a fast recovery and came home on March 24. He did not regain his strength and was taken back to Nevada Hospital on April 2. He was transferred to the Osteopathic Hospital in Kansas City, where death occurred April 9 at 1:35 a.m.
Besides his wife, of the home, he leaves two sons, Emmet F. Lutes of Kansas City, and Ray Lutes of Osceola, Mo., Route 3; one daughter, Ruthe Bradley of El Dorado Springs, Mo., Route 3; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great step-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Lutes of Raymondville, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Bruce of Moundville, Mo., and Maude Schriner of Osceola, Mo., Route 3; a number of nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Lutes were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday at the Roscoe Christian church, the Rev. Glenn Hinkle officiating. Interment in El Dorado Springs Cemetery, under direction of Gwinn-Carothers.
