St. Clair County Obits

JAMES D. GLINN

James D. Glinn was born in Marion Mo. January 26th, 1842, removing with his parents to St. Clair County when a boy. He was converted at about the age of eighteen years and was baptized into the fellowship of Coon Creek Baptist church.

He was married to Miss Nancy J. Culbertson October 29th, 1865, five sons being born to them.

His second marriage was to Miss S.M. Owen December 29th, 1887, to them were born one daughter Miss Myrtle Glinn, student in High school in Osceola.

He was twice elected to the office county treasurer of St. Clair county and no man vacated the office with greater confidence on the part of the people than did he.

He has been an invalid several years now, was cared for by his wife and children with all the tenderness that love could invent, the whole community being interested in his welfare.

He was buried from his home December 15th, 1910, the services being conducted by Rev. B.F. Lawler, pastor Baptist church in Osceola, and interment being in the Culbertson cemetery on Coon Creek near the old home west of Collins.

His broken hearted wife and children have the sympathy of all the people, their devotion to him being unbounded. Jimmy Glinn was a good boy, a good man and he “sleeps well”, his body waiting on the coming of the Lord.
