JAMES ANSON GENTRY

James Anson Gentry, son of Buena Allen and Jerry T. Gentry, was born
May 27, 1925, near Roscoe, Mo. He passed away in Phoenix, Ariz., on
April 12, 1961, at the age of 35 years, 10 months.
When Jim was about 12 years of age he became a member of the Riverview
Christian church, and later a member of a church in Winslow, Ariz.
He spent his boyhood days on the farm where he was born. He attended
grade school at Riverview, and went to high school in El Dorado
Springs, graduating in 1942.
In 1944 he was married to Thelma LeAnn Piper. To this union three
children were born, James Allen, John Thomas and Rebecca Ann. Soon
after their marriage they went to Winslow, Ariz., where Jim worked as
a brakeman for the railroad until his induction into the Army. He
served in Japan and Korea. When he returned to civilian life he
resumed his duties with the railroad, and then went into the insurance
business.
At the time of his death he was regional manager for the All American
Life and Casualty Co., in Arizona and New Mexico.
He leaves his wife and three children, his brother, Dick, and family,
all of Phoenix; his father, J.T. Gentry, Route 3, Osceola; three
sisters, Mrs. Jack Martin, Santa Ana Calif., Mrs. Ray Peterie and Mrs.
Herman Capps, of Collins, Mo.; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted by the Elks lodge of Winslow in
Phoenix on April 15. Burial was in Phoenix.
