Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, July 2, at 2 p.m., in the Goodrich Funeral Chapel for Jacob E. Kincaid, who died at the Osceola Medical Hospital, Osceola, Mo., June 29.
Rev. Merlin Shively, pastor of the Osceola Baptist Church, officiated at the service and interment was made at Macedonia Cemetery. Graveside services were conducted by the members of the Osceola Masonic Lodge.
Mrs. Bill Gilbert sang “In The Garden” and “Beyond The Sunset”, accompanied by Mrs. Beryl Kiefer.
Pallbearers were Fred Coones, Coy Waite, Lyle Ross, Delbert Shaffner, Logan Peery and Shirley Collins. Flowerbearers were Lora Lee foster, Florence Stark, MRs. Roy Keller, June Pendergraft, Dimple Hodges, Jenny Davis, Clara Gover, Myrene Waite, Peggy Haverland, Eva Grimes, Ella Kelley and Mrs. Fred Elliott.
J.E. Kincaid, son of William and Sallie Johnston Kincaid, was born at Pleasant Hill, Mo., April 9, 1891. He was married to Ethel Mary Stiles April 11, 1912. To them were born a son, Carl, who preceded his father in death November 29, 1959, a daughter, Helen, Mrs. J.A. LaBell of Los Angeles, Cal., and a son, Charles R. Kincaid, Osceola.
Also surviving Mr. Kincaid are two grandsons, Carl C. Kincaid, Kansas City, Mo., and Jerry Kincaid, Shawnee Mission, Kans., a great granddaughter and six great grandsons.
His surviving sisters and brother, all who attended the services were Mrs. Minnie K. Dean, Austin, Texas, Mrs. Dottie Wood, Houston, Texas, Mrs. Clarice Stubbs, Los Angeles, Cal., and Ruie Kincaid, Parkville, Mo.
Mr. Kincaid worked for the Street Car Company in Kansas City and farmed for several years in St. Clair County. He held the elective office as Sheriff of St. Clair County for two terms, and served as Deputy Sheriff a number of terms.
He had been a member of the Masonic Lodges since 1922, and a Royal Arch Mason since April 1929. He was known affectionately to a host of friends and acquaintances as “Jake”. As the end grew near he conveyed to his family the message he was ready to meet his Maker.
Other relatives who attended the services from out of town were Mrs. Janeil Hooten Bernard, Houston, Texas, Mrs. Janis Dean Hooten, Austin, Texas, Mrs. Jacqueline Siecke and Mrs. Maggie Quick, Peculiar, and Kenneth Quick, Kansas City.
