Teen dies when truck runs off highway
An Osceola teen died Sunday afternoon in a one-car wreck in St. Clair
County.
Gilbert R. Adrian, 17, was driving a 1986 Ford pickup eastbound on
Route A, three miles west of Lowry City, when he went off the right
side of the roadway, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported.
Adrian overcorrected, struck a ditch and came to rest in a creek,
according to the report. The teen was pronounced dead at the scene by
St. Clair County Coroner Randy Sheldon.

Gilbert Rolla Adrian was born Sept. 23, 1988, in Kansas City to
Lawrence G. and Jeanne E. Horner Adrian. He passed away Aug. 27, 2006,
near Lowry City.
He is survived by his parents, Larry Adrian and Jeanne Adrian and his
sister, Lara Adrian; paternal grandparents, Pat and Joe Adrian;
maternal grandmother, Clara Horner; many aunts, uncles and cousins, as
well as his coon dog, Cali and little dog, Cheyenne.
Family, church and friends were Gil's top priorities and these
always came first with him. Gil lived for the upcoming hunting
seasons. He loved deer hunting with his dad, coon hunting with Mat,
Andy and Dan, turkey hunting with Billy and also fishing with Jann and
Chance. If he wasn't hunting, Gil liked to spend time with his many
friends sitting on the square or going to Jann or Chance's house.
Another love of Gil's was his old truck that he was always working on.
Gil was also involved in extra-curricular activities at school. He
ran cross country and was dubbed the young warthog of the team, he was
a member of the FFA, but his real love was baseball and he
pitched and played second base for the Osceola High School team.
Gil or Gumbut, as he was called by his family and friends, always
worked and played hard. His plans after high school included joining
the National Guard and following a family tradition.
Gil could always be counted on for a smile, hug or to help with
anything that was asked of him. For his mom, he always had a smile,
hug, kiss and "I love you," even in public. Gil was always protective
of his little sister Lara, even to the point of making her mad. He
would sometimes sit on her until he got his point across to her.
Gil was loved by many and will be missed by family and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 31, in the Osceola High
School Auditorium, officiated by Father Phillip Eagan and Father Tom
Hermes.
Music selection was "When I Get Where I'm Going."
Casketbearers were Dan Wisner, Stefan Garrison, Jann Catt, Jeremy
Davila, Mat Wisner, Andy Dawson, Dustin Bray, Billy Wood and Steven
McSperitt.
Interment was in Osceola Cemetery. Arrangements were made by
Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.
