Dan J. Neuenschwander, 84, rural Deepwater, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at the Golden Valley Hospital, Clinton. He was born October 17, 1917, son of Arthur and Nettie Hagman Neuenschwander.
On May 25, 1939, he married Ivonne Sampson in Anita, Iowa. He was a lifelong resident and farmer in the Valley center area. He was a charter member of the Lakeland R-III School Board, MFA Dairy Board of El Dorado Springs, Mid-Am Dairy Board of Springfield and served as a deacon of the Valley Center United Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Robert Leon; brother, Alfred; infant grandson, Curtis Lee Rodabaugh, and one brother-in-law, Faris Shy. His brother, Amos, died March 22, 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ivonne, of the home; five children, Jo Susan and husband, Tom Rodabaugh of Osceola, Larry and wife, Doris Jean Neuenschwander, Deepwater, Judy and husband, Albert Watson, Windsor, Jane and husband, J.W. Salley, Warsaw, and Jean and husband, Bill Ryberg, Deepwater; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Amos and wife, Ruby, Appleton City; one sister, Anna Shy, Lowry City; one sister-in-law, Helen, Deepwater; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
Funeral services were Sunday, March 24, 2 p.m. at Valley Center United Church of Christ with Rev. Dane Sommer Officiating. Burial was in Valley Center Cemetery. Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola, was in charge of arrangements.
