Alice Matthews, daughter of John Adams and Carrie (Harrison) Stiff was born on September 17, 1913 in Fresno California. She passed away on December 26, 2005 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky at the age of 92 years. Mrs. Matthews worked as a school teacher in Irvington and the western part of Kentucky for most of her life. She was a former resident of Appleton City, Missouri before moving back to Kentucky for the remainder of her life. She was united in marriage to Melvin L. Matthews on February 11, 1942 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Mr. Matthews passed away on February 20, 1995. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her brother Duward Stiff of Brandenburg, Kentucky and two sisters; Mildred Keys of Clarkson, Kentucky and Jewel Higginbotham of Florida.
