Alice Ruth Hilty, 93, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at her home in Denver, Colo. She was born in rural Henry County near Montrose on Sept. 1, 1911, to Warren and Grace Shy.
Alice attended college in Warrensburg and taught school in rural St. Clair County. She married Roy F. Hilty on April 24, 1932, and to this union three children were born.
Alice was a member of the Valley Center United Church of Christ and was an active member of the Valley Center Ladies Aide. She attended Parshall Chapel in Parshall, Colo., during the 30 years they lived in the area.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, who passed away Feb. 20, 2005; three brothers, Earl, Faris and Uel Shy and one sister, Mabel Gallagher.
She is survived by two sons, Daniel E. Hilty and his wife, Lydia, Aarvada, Colo., and David W. Hilty and his wife, Susan, Deepwater; one daughter, Roilynn Kay Kreder and her husband, Earl, St. Louis; one sister, Lucille Doing, Lebanon; a brother, Delbert Shy and his wife, Mary Ann, Liberty; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Hilty, Michelle Crooks, Dava Dull, Rob Kreder and Lee Hilty; six great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at the Valley Center United Church of Christ at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 19.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, on February 20, 2005; three brothers, Earl, Faris and Uel Shy and one sister Maybel Gallagher. She is survived by two sons, Daniel E. Hilty and wife Lydia, Arvada, Colorado, David W. Hilty and wife Susan, Deepwater, and daughter Roilynn Kay Kreder and husband Earl, St. Louis; one sister Lucille Doing, Lebanon; a brother Delbert Shy and wife Mary Ann, Liberty; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Hilty, Michelle Crooks, Dava Dull, Rob Kreder and Lee Hilty; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephew and other relatives and friends. Services will be held at Valley Center United Church of Christ Friday, August 19.
