ERASTUS EVANS HOLT

Appleton City Journal
19 March 1914
Erastus Evans Holt was born February 25, 1844, in Calloway County, Mo., and died March 16, 1914, at his home Southwest of Appleton City, Age 70 years, and 11 days.
While a young man he moved to Bates Co., where he lived up to the time of his death. December 20, 1868 he was married to Mary Ford. To this union were born five sons; William E., Albert E., Emmett M., Smith and Walter V. Holt. He is survived by his wife, three sons, five sisters and two brothers, to whom a host of friends and neighbors extend their deepest sympathy in this time of their sorrow and loss.
In the fall of 1869 Mr. Holt was converted in a meeting held by J. Hugh Robison, a Baptist Missionary. He became a charter member of the Round Prairie Baptist Church and for over forty years has been one of its deacons, ever zealous and wise in his care of his Master's cause.
After an illness of almost a month on Friday morning about 3 o'clock he quietly passed away to be at home with his Lord. May his loved ones be comforted with the thought that "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints", and that in the glorious morn of the resurrection we shall be reunited never more to say good-bye. He will be sadly missed in his church and community as well as in his home.
The funeral service was conducted at the Round Prairie Baptist Church at 11 o'clock Sunday morning March 8, the pastor Elmer Kirkpatrick officiating. The text was 11 Cor. 5:8, "Absent from the body at home with the Lord."
Interment was made at the Round Prairie Baptist Cemeter.
Elmer Kirkpatrick, Pastor.
