Frank Robert, son of William and Sue Johnston, died July 29th at age 19 months.

August 29, 1866 - (page 3, column 2):
Died in Osceola August 25, 1866, Mrs. Jane L. Johnson, late of McVeytown, Penn., aged 56 years, 9 months, 25 days. She has been a widow for 19 years.

September 12, 1866 - (page 3, column 3):
Miss Amanda J., daughter of the late Jane L. Johnson, died September 6th in Osceola, 23 years, 5 months, 2 days. Lewistown, Penn. Papers, copy.

Hannah M., wife of J.H. Thomas, died September 8th, aged 26 years, 5 days.

Edney, wife of John Dawson, died in Osceola September 12th.

A. Milton English, of DeWitt, died December 18, 1866 in Hopkinton, Delaware County, Iowa, aged 24 years, 6 months, 21 days.

Phebe C., wife of Henry L. Burch, aged 23 years, 2 months, 3 days, died December 29, 1866, St. Clair, Michigan. Republican copy

Vienna Peery, wife of Thomas Peery, died New Years eve, aged 28 years.

John Summerfield, the infant son of Adam & Jane M. Kalbaugh, died January 4th at Taberville, aged 2 months, 13 days.

January 23, 1867 - (page 3, column 2):
Lockwood W. Smith, late of Aspinwall, U.S.C., died at the residence of Wm. A. Mitchell near Osceola on December 17, 1866. He was 41 and had suffered with a complication of diseases.

February 27, 1867 - (page 3, column 1):
Mary E., wife of T.S. Norman, died in Osceola of consumption February 14th, age 35 years.

May 15, 1867 - (page 3, column 1):
Susan E., daughter of John R. and Augusta Baldwin, aged 2 years, died May 13th of whooping cough and pneumonia.

May 22, 1867 - (page 2, column 4):
Julia Ann, daughter of B.G. & Rufina Roberts, died May 5th, aged 1 years, 8 months.

May 22, 1867 - (page 2, column 4):
Eliza Jane, daughter of B.G. & Rufina Roberts, died May 15, age 1 year, 8 months, 10 days.

May 22, 1867 - (page 2, column 4):
G.W. Casey died May 18th, aged 59 years. He was a soldier in the C.W. and leaves a wife and family.

August 22, 1867 - (page 1, column 1):
Alonzo B. Whitaker, aged 4 years, 3 months and 14 days, died August 21st. Funeral from residence of Mr. Whitaker. (Parents not named).

October 17, 1867 - (page 1, column 3):
Lois, infant daughter of Arwin & Sarah F. Snell, died October 9th, age 1 year, 2 months.

October 31, 1867 - (page 1, column 3):
On October 20th, Lieut. John Wheeler expired. He was born in Clermont Ohio in 1821, where he resided until 1847 when he went to Indiana, then to this county in 1850.

Jane Wheeler, widow of John Wheeler, died October 25th, aged 49 years.

February 6, 1868 - (page 1, column 3):
Mrs. Mary Meredith died at residence of Capt. B.F. Cook, January 8th, 1868 in the 75th year of her age. She was born in Amherst Co., Virginia September 1794. In 1803 she came with her father's family to Franklin Co., Virginia and in 1858 immigrated to St. Clair Co., Missouri.

February 27, 1867 - (page 1, column 3):
Ann E. Ritchey, wife of W.W. Ritchey, died January 7, 1868 at Georgetown, Pettis Co., Missouri. She was 48 years of age and formerly lived here.

March 12, 1868 - (page 1, column 4):
Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Harden, aged 32, died March 8th at the residence of B.F. Harden, 1 mile Southeast of Osceola. She was born November 9th 1835 in Indiana, and came to this County last October. She leaves a husband and four children. (Trenton and Chillicothe papers copy)

Mrs. James G. MaGann died March 18th in Sedalia.

April 9, 1868 - (page 1, column 4):
Juliet A. Graham, wife of W.D. Graham, died April 6th, aged 24 years. She was married in DeWitt, Iowa May 13th, 1867 and immediately moved here.

April 9, 1868 - (page 1, column 4):
Virginia E., wife of Meritt Larkin, died Sunday, March 29th in Monegaw.

April 23, 1868 - (page 1, column 3):
Mrs. S.C. Corbin, wife of A.F. Corbin, died April 19th, aged 29 years. (Sedalia & Fayetteville, Ark. Papers copy)

May 14, 1868 - (page 1, column 1):
Drowned May 9th, Daniel Replogle, aged 17 years, 8 months and 10 days. Deceased came to this place from Macon County, Illinois 5 weeks ago. He was swimming near Crow Island, one mile below Osceola and may have suffered cramps. The body was recovered and buried May 10th. (Macon Co., IL papers please copy)

November 26, 1868 - (page 1, column 4):
James F. Boswell died November 18th, aged 36 years. He had been a resident of St. Clair County for a number of years, and was buried with Masonic honors, 12 miles south of Osceola.

January 21, 1869 - (page 1, column 5):
Benjamin P. Cook, son of Capt. B.F. Cook, died January 11th at age 14 years, 2 months, 28 days.

March 11, 1869 - (page 1, column 5):
Daniel McNeil died February 28 in DeWitt, Iowa, aged 76 years, 11 months and 4 days. He was father of Dr. D.C. McNeil of Osceola, and was buried with full honors of a Master Mason.

April 1, 1869 - (page 1, column 5):
Charles John, son of John P. & Mary P. Lawton, died in Monegaw, age of 8 months.

April 15, 1869 - (page 1, column 5):
Joshua Whitaker, aged 58 years, died at his residence in Hickory County April 9th, after an illness of four days.

May 13, 1869 - (page 1, column 4):
George Hall, died at his residence in Butler Township, May 10th in his 60th year. He had been a resident over 18 years, having emigrated from Tennessee in 1839.

August 12, 1869 - (page 1, column 3):
Thomas William, son of John & Narcissa Dawson, died in Osceola August 5th, aged 1 year, 26 days. (Rolla papers copy)

Ara Ann, wife of James Mahhan, died in Osceola August 15th, aged 28 years, 5 months, 24 days.

September 16, 1869 - (page 1, column 5):
Minnie, daughter of B.G. & Rufina Roberts, died September 15th, aged 1 year, 4 months and 21 days.

September 23, 1869 - (page 1, column 5):
Sarah Hanson, aged 72 years, died September 17th. Was member of the Luthern Church.

September 30, 1869 - (page 1, column 4):
Roscoe Clarence died on the 5th. He was son of George Nead & Mary Haslitt Heaton. Was 3 months, 22 days.

October 14, 1869 - (page 1, column 4):
Maida Belle, infant daughter of Hamilton & Ida F. Kibbie, died in Roscoe October 6, age 3 months, 22 days.

Mary, wife of S.A. Hill died October 7th at Taberville, aged 26 years.

February 3, 1870 - (page 1, column 3):
Obituary - John Cotton died January 20th 1870 at his home in DeWitt, Iowa, aged 79 years & 20 days. He was born December 31, 1791 in Plymouth, Mass. He settled in Iowa in 1844 and his son Hon. A.R. Cotton is now Speaker of the Iowa House of Representatives.

February 10, 1870 - (page 1, column 5):
Eliza Stearns-Mitchell died January 25, 1870, aged 22 years. She was the wife of Harrison Mitchell and the only daughter of Dr. A.K. & Mrs. C.M. Sterns, formerly of St. Marys, Ohio.

February 17, 1870 - (page 1, column 5):
Halcott Towns, aged 75 years, 10 months & 14 days, died in Springfield, January 19th of pneumonia. He had been a resident of Benton County over 36 years and was buried there.

May 19, 1870 - (page 1, column 4):
Mary Zelida, infant daughter of D.J. & Adaline Beardslee, died May 3rd, aged 8 months and 23 days.

July 14, 1870 -- Fleming, John, aged 54, died July 7th at his residence three miles east of Osceola, after a long painful illness. Born in Tennessee in 1816, he moved to Bond County, Illinois when small and emigrated to this county in 1840.

August 4, 1870 -- Heaton, Gertrude, aged 7 years, 9 months, died at Roscoe, July 18th. She was the daughter of Mary Haslitt and George Nead Heaton.

September 1, 1870 -- Sheldon, John C., died August 28, 1870 at the residence of his father.

September 15, 1870 -- Gowen, Isaac Senior, aged 75 years, 10 months, 26 days, died September 11, 1870. Father Gowen had for fourteen years been a citizen of St. Clair County.

September 22, 1870 -- Hartzell, William, of Butler Township, died September 21, 1870 of typhoid fever. Deceased was a Minister of the Gospel.

October 6, 1870 -- Orr, Ulysses S., son of E.L. and M.A. Orr, died October 1, 1870, aged 3 years, 7 months, & 27 days.

October 6, 1870 -- Adams, Willie S., son of David M. & Lucinda A., died October 3, 1870, aged 4 years, 11 months.

October 13, 1870 -- Adams, Amerita E., daughter of David M. & Lucinda A., died October 5, 1870, aged 2 years, 9 months.

October 13, 1870 -- Dear, Gilbert Wiley, son of Richard D. and Sarah E. Dear of Washington Township, died October 7, 1870, aged 4 years, 4 months and 5 days.

October 27, 1870 -- Penn, Mary S., eldest daughter of G.W. & Martha, died October 20, 1870, aged 20 years, 4 months and 26 days.

October 27, 1870 -- Marquis, Sarah E., wife of Dr. A.C. Marquis, died October 18, 1870 of typhoid fever, aged 29 years, 9 months, 7 days. Born in Pike County, Ohio, her father H.L. Westfall, emigrated to Missouri in 1852, and settled in the western part of this county. She married in 1863, and leaves a husband, four children, her mother and a sister.

November 3, 1870 -- Allcorn, George, aged 22 years, died October 23, 1870.

November 3, 1870 -- Allcorn, Mary A., wife of George, and daughter of Anderson & Mary Morton, died October 25, 1870, aged 21 years. Both died of typhoid.

December 1, 1870 -- English, Mary M., wife of Jos. L. English, died November 20, 1870, of consumption, aged 34 years, 1 month, 7 days. She was a daughter of Dr. W. Dorrell, born in Benton County, but resided in Osceola and vicinity the greater portion of her life. She leaves a husband and two small children.

January 26, 1871 -- Davis, Elizabeth, died January 12, 1871, aged 29 years, 2 months, 4 days. Mrs. Davis was born in Ohio in 1841, came to Missouri in September of 1869, resided near Osceola until her death. A husband and two children survive.

February 2, 1871 -- Kerr, Edwin, infant son of James K. and Kate B. Sheley, died January 30, 1871, aged 1 year, 6 months, 19 days.

February 2, 1871 -- Clark, Robert, residing on the farm of Daniel E. Young in the southwest portion of this county, drowned a few days ago while attempting to cross Clear Creek on the ice. Deceased had recently come in from Kansas and located in the county. He leaves a wife and children.

March 16, 1871 -- Dillie, Dr. Lucies, died March 13, 1871 of pulmonary consumption, at his farm in Washington Township. He was 26 years, 5 months, 8 days. Born Richland County, Ohio, 5 January 1842, he lived Plymouth County, Indiana before coming to St. Clair County in 1866.

May 11, 1871 -- Nay, Thomas, died of consumption April 30, 1871, at the home of his brother-in-law near Graham, Indiana. Mr. Nay was 29 years of age.

June 1, 1871 -- Barr, William Z. of Washington Township, shot himself through the heart, when his intended bride declined to marry him.

June 1, 1871 -- Baker, infant, daughter of Cyrus and Sallie G. Baker, died Washington Township on May 12, 1871. She was 2 weeks, 2 days of age.

June 1, 1871 -- Cox, Mary Mildred, wife of Col. J.W. Cox, died in Bonham, Texas, March 19, 1871 of paralysis in the 48th year of her life. Born Charlottesville, Virginia, moved to Richmond, and later to Missouri. At close of the war, she and her husband lived in Osceola some two years before going to Texas. She leaves an aged mother and four children as well as her husband.

July 13, 1871 -- Outhwaite, Charles Peabody, infant son of Joseph H. & Ellen P., died July 1, 1871 at residence of E.J. Brush, Esq., Zanesville, Ohio.

August 3, 1871 -- Osborn, Burdett Gaines, infant son of William H. & Elizabeth C., died July 31, 1871, aged 4 months, 20 days.

September 7, 1871 -- Hopkins, Charles A., infant son of Geo W. & Eliza J., died at Brownington, Henry County, August 28, 1871, aged 10 months, 15 days.

September 14, 1871 -- Collins, Nathaniel J., died September 5, 1871, while working in a well on the farm. He was 24 years of age, and a son of Judge Wm. Collins.

September 21, 1871 -- Penn, George W., died September 18, 1871 in Lowry, aged 57 years, 8 months, 9 days. Born December 9, 1813 near Spottsylvania Court House, Virginia, and when small the family moved to North Carolina. At 15 he started out in the world for himself, coming west and settling in Sumner County, Tennessee. He came to Missouri in 1839, where he settled in Lexington, engaging in the mercantile business. In 1849 he married Miss Mary Barnett of St. Clair County, and since has made this county his home. He entered the ministry in 1836 and has been an active member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

September 21, 1871 -- Hill, Joseph, only child of John & Mary J. of Taberville, died September 9, 1871, aged 16 months, 17 days.

October 5, 1871 -- Barr, Charles W., son of James F. & Kate S., died October 4, 1871 on Coon Creek, aged 2 years, 8 months and 1 day.

November 23, 1871 -- De Haven, Elizabeth, wife of Peter De Haven, died at Ritchey's Mill, November 20, 1871, aged 52 yaers.

December 7, 1871 -- Robison, Mary Ann, daughter of Judge Thos. F. & Elizabeth Robison, died in Jackson Township November 28, 1871, aged 2 years, 3 months, 6 days.

December 31, 1871 -- Ensley, Joseph, instantly killed when thrown from a wagon when the team ran away. He had lived in the county about three years, having bought the John Hoover place. He leaves a wife and seven or eight children.

January 4, 1872 -- Gardener, Josie, daughter of Albert G. & Ann E., died December 24, 1871, at residence of Dr. Dozier, of inflammation of the stomach. She was 14 years, 3 months.

February 1, 1872 -- Broyles, Albert, infant son of G.H. & Luvernia J., died January 2, 1872, of pneumonia, aged 13 years, 4 months, 19 days.

February 15, 1872 -- Dillie, Margaret Annetta, died in Washington Township, January 19, 1872, of consumption, aged 22 years, 3 months, 8 days.

March 14, 1872 -- Graham, Robert St. Clair, infant son of R.S. & Mattie V., died at residence of W.H. Scobey, March 10, 1872 of pneumonia, aged 8 months, 25 days.

March 21, 1872 -- Ouderkirk, J.H., died about six miles east of Osceola.

April 4, 1872 -- Beck, Mrs. Mattie D., niece of Mrs. W.C. Lucas, died March 24, 1872, in Hamilton, Ohio. Mrs. Beck recently lived in Danville, Kentucky.

May 2, 1872 -- Smith, Ellen A., wife of Alfred B. Smith, died at her home near DeWitt, Iowa, April 19, 1872, aged 31 years, 9 months, 15 days.

May 16, 1872 -- Chinn, Willie, infant son of David & Martha, died April 28, 1872.

May 23, 1872 -- Mitchell, Judge William A., aged 49 years, 4 months, 15 days, died suddenly May 10th. He was born in Bourbon County, Kentucky, January 4, 1823. At age six he emigrated to Indiana and in 1857 he came to Missouri. In 1851 he married Miss Colegate T.D. Steel, who with three sons are left to mourn.

May 30, 1872 -- Wilson, Elijah E., died at his residence in Taberville of consumption, aged 31 years, 9 months, 7 days. He leaves a widow and children.

June 27, 1872 -- Outhwaite, John, died June 1, 1872 at his residence in Cleveland, Ohio, of old age. He was the father of George Outhwaite, and was 93 years old.

August 7, 1872 -- Jones, Emma, daughter of S.G. & Mary, died August 4th, aged 9 years, 7 months.

August 29, 1872 -- Davis, Charles A., son of L.N. & Sarah, died August 20th, aged 10 months.

August 29, 1872 -- Shield, Birdie, 2 year old son of David P. & Elizabeth, died August 25th.

August 29, 1872 -- Hicks, Leuvicia J., wife of Jas. L. Hicks, died August 26, 1872, aged 44 years, 11 months, 6 days. Born Lebanon, Tennessee, September 20, 1827, she was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

September 26, 1872 -- Davis, Florence E., wife of W.H. Davis, died September 12, 1872 at residence of her parents, A.O. & Jas. M. Shepherd, near Warrensburg, Missouri. Mr. Davis is editor of the Henry County Democrat.

October 3, 1872 -- Hicks, Thomas M., father of Jas. L. Hicks, died at the residence of the latter, on September 27, 1872. He was an old settler, aged 74 years, 8 months, born near Guilford Court House, Orange County, North Carolina, and at age 20 he removed to Lebanon, Tennessee where he married. After living there 34 years he emigrated to Missouri taking up residence in Hickory County. He and his wife came to live with their son about a year and a half ago.

October 17, 1872 -- Hastain, Miles Humphrey, only son of Wm. S. & Fanny Shirk Hastain, died October 5th, aged 2 years, 9 months, 21 days.

October 17, 1872 -- Barber, Lee Chandler, son of Emmerson & Calista Barber, died of diptheria, October 4, 1872, aged 1 year, 20 days.

October 17, 1872 -- Barber, Elizabeth Alice, daughter of Emmerson & Calista Barber, died October 13, 1872 of disease of the heart, aged 3 years, 2 months, 13 days.

October 24, 1872 -- Durbin, Frederick Lattimore, son of Edward & Mary Durbin, died October 20, 1872, aged 3 years, 11 months, 18 days.

October 24, 1872 -- Fisher, George W., died September 3, 1872, near Sacramento, California. He was a former resident of this county who left for California September 15th.

October 24, 1872 -- Hubbs, Mark, died October 20, 1872, aged 34 years, 11 months, 13 days. He has been a resident of Osceola several years, and leaves a wife and child.
