Monegaw
It is real cold this Monday morn.

There were not so many to Sunday School yesterday our attendance being only thirty three.

Some of the young folks enjoyed themselves by having a good time toasting marshmallows at the Nitsche Lake one mile south of Monegaw, Sunday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mallicoat and Mrs. Viola Thomas and Effie Keeton returned home from Kansas City last Tuesday, where they visited relatives and friends for a few days. Mrs. Mayme Dunn remained in the city to be under the doctors care for a few days.

The Get Together Club meets at the home of Mrs. Mable Nitsche Tuesday.

Maylene William spent Sunday with Grace Mallicoat.

Mr. Jim Kirkland and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Keeton attended fifth Sunday meeting at the Baptist Church at Osceola last Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Lue Bean visited in the Jim Huff home Sunday.

Mrs. Brock visited Mrs. Rice one day last week.

Mr. Walter Witham returned home from Kansas City where he underwent a physical examination last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Garret are the parents of a baby girl born last Saturday night.

Red Cross
The St. Clair county chapter is preparing to ship refugee garments made since Jan. 1st. In this consignment there will be 40 toddler packs, each containing a snow suit, cap and mittens, 2 sleepers, 2 rompers and undergarments, women’s gowns and woolen dresses, 33 men’s sweaters and 20 pairs of socks and 10 baby blankets. Scraps left from the garments have been pieced into comfort tops, 3 comforts are completed. Through Dr. Ruth Seevers, a letter of thanks to the Red Cross from Fitzsimons hospital, Denver, for 15 sweaters for patients there recently has been received. Mrs. E.L. Butler Homemaker’s Club
The Butler’s Homemaker Club met March 19 at the home of Mrs. Ray Babcock with Mrs. Oscar Walker assistant hostess.
Meeting was called together by singing and repeating the Lord’s Prayer. The roll call was “Rainy Day Pass Time for the Children”.
Twelve members were present and three visitors – Mrs. Munson, Mrs. Nemie Walker and Grandma Babcock.
A very interesting contest was held. Each had taken an old time picture of ourselves or someone we all knew and each guessed who they were. Mrs. Ray Thompson received the prize, after which delicious refreshments were served.
Our next meeting will be April 16, with Mrs. Claud Murphy.

Honor Parents with Anniversary Dinner
Lauralee and Mary Louise Armstrong entertained with a dinner last Sunday in honor of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Armstrong’s silver wedding anniversary, which was on March 31. The guests were: Mr. and Mrs. U.L. Davis and Harold; Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Browning; Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Armstrong and Anna Kathryn and Robert McComber.

Mr. and Mrs. Charley Woolery and Sherman visited with Mr. and Mrs. Morg Woolery and Mr. and Mrs. Walters at Damascus Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Bennet Allen visited Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ballard Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Barnett visited Mr. and Mrs. Miller Sunday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Ned Murray and family spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Murray.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Penn visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Sparrow and Mrs. Hovard.

Rose and Marie Burnett who are employed in Kansas City spent Sunday with home folks.

Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Park visited in the R.F. Barnett home Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Mayers and Jean visited Mr. and Mrs. Glen James Sunday.

Mrs. Linville visited Mrs. Burnett Saturday morning.

Dorothy Jean Ross visited school Monday afternoon.

Valley Center 4H Club Meets
The Valley Center 4H club met at the Valley Center school house Monday night, March 9, to reorganize a 4H club for this year.
President: Raymond Haverland; Vice President: Edgar Haverland; Secretary: Norma Lee Kalberloh; Game & Song Leader: Joyce Shy; Reporter: Robert Naylor. The County Agent Mr. Sapp made a very interesting talk to benefit of the 4H club.

Special Meeting
The O.E.S. had a special meeting Friday night. District Deputy Grand Matron Mrs. Edna Turner of Windsor made her special visit. Others coming with her were Mr. and Mrs. Jennings, Mrs. Frances Ferguson and Mr. Campbell, W.P. of Montrose chapter. Four candidates were initiated. Talks from the visitors were made.
Refreshments of sandwiches, pickles, potato chips, cake and coffee were served.

First Aid Study Class
The first aid study class met at the home of Mrs. J.W. Terwilliger Saturday afternoon with 13 present.
Mrs. Dr. Johnson of Osceola organized the ladies. Mrs. Cliff Sullivan, Chairman; Mrs. Isaac Warner, Sec.-Treas.; Cora bowman reporter. Plans were made to order books, and Dr. Ruth Seevers will be the teacher.

Ohio
Mrs. Fred Murphy and children spent Monday with Mrs. Russell Long and family while Fred Murphy, Gene Bouse, Short Long and Collie Edwards sowed oats.

Albert Harrell and family called last Sunday night in the Ed Huey home.

Mrs. Leo Higgins and son called Monday afternoon on Aunt Jane Higgins and Maggie.

Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Edwards and Junior Huey called in the Clell Underwood home Tuesday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Coleman Gibbons and Mrs. Holley went to Texarkana, Texas to see Mrs. Gibbons’ sister who is in a hospital.

Leslie Dale Gibbons is staying with his aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gibbons and Jackie Gibbons is staying with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Del Brandon while their parents are gone to Texas.

Mr. and Mrs. Coleman Edwards called in the Russell Long home Wednesday night.

Elton Long was taken ill Wednesday evening and was rushed to Elletts hospital where he was operated on for appendicitis. He is getting along nicely.

Mr. and Mrs. Collie Edwards took Harry Edwards to Clinton Monday morning to leave for the Army services.

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Prier and son called in the Leo Higgins home Thursday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Huey and grandson, Mr. and Mrs. Collie Edwards took dinner in the Howard Huey home Thursday.

Mrs. Maggie Patterson called on Eunice Garnet Saturday evening.

Mrs. Edwards called on Aunt Jane Higgins the same evening.

Mrs. Howard Huey and children spent Saturday night with Ed Huey and wife.

Mrs. Russell Long and son spent Friday in the Dutch Long home.

Ben Gibbons and family spent Friday in Dal Brandon home.

Mrs. Leo Higgins and son spent Friday in the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Shoemaker as her mother has been sick. She also called in the Grover Park home a while. The Higgins family, Dick Cooper and family and Randolph Shoemaker and wife called in the Walter Shoemaker home Friday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Huey and grandson, Mr. and Mrs. Collie Edwards and niece spent Sunday in the Albert Haverland home.

Mrs. Coleman Gibbons and children spent Monday in the Del Brandon home.

Mrs. Fred Murphy and children spent Wednesday with her sister Mrs. Russell Long.

Pansy Edwards, and Ed Huey and grandson were in Appleton City on business Tuesday afternoon.

Mrs. Maude Brandon spent Wednesday with Mr. Coleman Gibbons.

Mrs. Oscar Beleu and Mrs. Russell Long called on Dutch Long Wednesday night.

Mrs. Leo Higgins and son spent Thursday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Shoemaker.

Mrs. Ed Huey went to Lowry City Thursday after 300 chicks.

Pansy and Harry went to Clinton Thursday to get 500 little chicks.

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gibbons spent Friday in the Emma Prier home. Ben is improving slowly.

Harry Edwards spent Thursday night and Friday with his brother Robert Edwards and family.

Mrs. Coleman Gibbons and children spent Thursday in the Del Brandon home.

Mrs. Walter Shoemaker has been in bed with the mumps and is getting along well.

Gave Party
Gerry Wynnes gave a party for a number of his little friends recently. Those present were Gerry Wynnes, Loal Parks, Billie Minks, Don Austin and Bettie Wright. Ice cream and cake was served the little folks.

St. Clair County Service Flag
The County Commander of The American Legion Posts No. 205 Appleton City and No. 291 Emerson-Bell, Osceola, has received word from Missouri Resources Museum, that the St. Clair County American Legion service flag has now been placed with the other Missouri county flags in the State Capitol Building in Jefferson City.
