Local and Personal.
The days are lengthening.

The river is again fordable.

The editor went to Appleton City yesterday.

W.H. McNeal has gone for a week's sojourn to the country.

The roads have improved considerable during the past week or two.

Dr. Tholes Wright has returned from his hunt. He reports good success.

Shaffner & Harrison are having their office removed opposite the west corner of the courthouse square.

Dr. J. Wade Gardner, Charles Robson, and others will address the literary society at the Dillon Schoolhouse next Thursday evening.

A township teacher's Institute will commence in Osceola next Saturday. Teachers from all parts of the county are cordially invited to attend.

The Salt Creek School taught by W.H. Hammond closed last Wednesday with general satisfaction. The scholars were given a treat by the teacher.

We are informed that Mr. Harrison Bowman of Jackson Township was taken from his house last Friday night by a crowd of men who gave him a severe flogging, inflicting several painful bruises.
