COUNTY GLEANINGS:
The Sunday School Club met with Miss Ruby Wisner Saturday night.
Miss Lucille and Harriett Sheldon spent Friday afternoon at the A.
C. Wisner home.
So much rain certainly makes it bad for the road workers.
They just don't seem to be able to get in even half time very often.
Mrs. Stella Barbour called to see Mrs. Sarah Wisner also Mrs. J. C.
Hooper one afternoon last week.
On account of the rain the Brush creek ball team did not get to come
over Sunday.
PRAIRIE HOME ITEMS:
Brownie Higgins and wife visited Sunday with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Bourland.
Miss Melba Capps who had been employed at Rockville returned home
Friday.
The community was made saddened Wednesday, May 17, when the news were
spread that Laud Morris had passed away. He was buried Friday at Mount
Zion graveyard.
Tamer Grass assisted Mrs. Kate Moore in papering Wednesday.
Mrs. Kate Moore purchased some baby chicks from Appleton Hatchery,
Friday.
Alfred Grass made a trip to Humsansville Friday.
Johnny Carroll spent Thursday in the Matt Jones home.
Marie, Irene and Francis Jones called on Ruth Davis Tuesday.
HARMONY NOTES:
Rev. Christian was here to fill his appointment but the continued
rain Sunday made the congregation small.
It was decided to begin a revival meeting the fourth Sunday in July.
Goldie Williamson spent one day the first of the week with her cousins,
Mrs. Alma Hill and Leone Williamson.
Rev. Elmer Kirkpatrick and wife spent two nights last week in the
W. M. Kirkpatrick home. They spent the first part of the week in Columbia
at the home of their brother, Roy, where their mother is now bedfast
with cancer.
Doris and Betty Allinson have the measles.
W. M. Kirkpatrick and wife drove to Boliver the 18 of May where their
daughter Ima graduated from college. She came home with them after
the exercise.
Mrs. Hering and daughter, Lucille were visiting in Johnson City Saturday
afternoon.
Mrs. John Turner has been sick the past few weeks.
The Frank Newbill family went to Warsaw Saturday to attend the Memorial
services, Sunday.
Mary Dieckman spent Saturday night with Ima Kirkpatrick.
Mrs. Bonnie Bock has the record of canning rhubarb, as she reports
canning 15 gallons.
Plans are being made for our annual Home Coming next Sunday. Every
one is invited.
The cemetery looks very nice and is being mowed this summer by Rowland
Newbill.
BIRDSONG ITEMS:
Miss Ruby Deshazo spent Sunday with home folks. She is staying with
Mrs. Jim Kearney while Mr. Kearney is in the Humansville Hospital.
Jim Thompson is having two rooms and a porch added to his house, a
new floor in the front porch and new cement steps is another improvement.
Oscar Sims, wife and son spent Sunday in the O. E. Burton home.
We are glad to report J. F. Pace is able to go out again.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Capps spent Friday with J. W. Thompson and wife.
Mrs. Effie Koehler who has been bedfast for several weeks was some
better the latter part of the last week.
Mr. J. H. Kennon, Mrs. Lois Burchett and children, Mr. and Mrs. Parley
Kennon, Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Goodwin, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Good, Mr.
and Mrs. Shelby Kennon, Parmer and Joe Kennon attended Memorial services
at Fair Play Sunday.
Mrs. Dottie Duckworth and children spent Friday night in the Lloyd
Burton home.
Lon Hughes and family were guests in the Floyd Hughes home Sunday.
Merl Millsap spent the weekend near Roscoe.
