Osceola, Missouri 24 July 1919 Mrs. Georgia Smith came in the latter part of last week from Kansas City for a short visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.H.S. Henry, and other relatives and numerous friends. Mayor Geo. B. Linney and John H. Lucas were among the large number who attended the funeral service of the late Chas. Nesbit at Lowry City Tuesday afternoon. Prof. Chas. E. Higgins went to Lowry City Tuesday to attend the funeral of the late C.W. Nesbit. Mrs. D.W. Denney, of Lowry City, spent Saturday afternoon in the county seat hunting a residence, as Mr. and Mrs. Denney expect to move here in the near future. Mrs. T.B. Wilson spent a few days last week in Clinton. Attorney Waldo P. Johnson was a visitor in Kansas City the first of this week. J.A. Boner, proprietor of the west side restaurant and bakery, was on the sick list the first of the week. Misses Bertha and Frances Daniel, of Springfield, arrived in this city the last of the week for a two weeks' visit with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F.P. Daniel, and other relatives and numerous friends. Mr. and Mrs. Walter L. Cox, Mr. and Mrs. T.O. Daniel; Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Nuckles and the Misses Bertha and Frances Daniel expect to leave for Hermitage, where they will spend a few days camping and fishing. Mrs. Walter N. Langford, of Appleton City, came over Monday evening for a few days visit in the home of Frank C. Robinson, and family. W.S. Rowland, of Monegaw Springs, was a business visitor in the county seat the first of the week. In connection with the selection of a State Senator to fill the unexpired term of the late Senator Wix, we would suggest to our sister counties that it has been a long time since St. Clair has had that honor, and there are some mighty competent men in this county, too. Louis Georgeons, Jr., came in the last of the week from Phoenix, Ariz., for a visit with home folks and numerous friends in this city. Miss Nelle Margaret Vannice is able to be out again after having been confined to her room by sickness for almost a week. Ab. Blakely is again at his post of duty, after having been on the sick list for a week or more. George Virgil Higgins was over from Appleton City Tuesday, being called here by the illness of his wife and little son. We are glad to report that they are both improving at this time. Sam Underwood, of Alamo, Ky., is now receiving The Democrat regular, as a present from his brother, J.D. Underwood, of near Ohio Post Office. Mrs. Henry Alten, of Appleton City, spent one night the latter part of the week in the Frank Robinson home in this city, departing the next day for Humansville. S.H. Lyon was here from Clinton the latter part of the week, a guest in the home of his brother-in-law, L.R. Knight. Mr. Lyon formerly lived near Lowry City, and still owns a mighty good farm up there. Ridley Thomas, one of The Democrat's good friends, was in town last Friday and made an appreciated call. Monegaw Springs J.C. Kirkbride and Harry Alton spent Monday in Osceola. Loyd Knight of Ohio spent a few days here the first of the week. W.S. Rowland and wife spent Friday in Eldorado. Mrs. Wm. Goldsmith of Lincoln, Nebraska came Monday to spend two weeks. Homer Williams, of Harrisonville, came Monday to drink the water hoping to get relief from rheumatism. Josh Rickman, of Raton, New Mexico, is spending the summer here with sister, Mrs. W.O. Lewis. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Morrison; Miss Maud McKee and Gale Carr, of Olathe Kansas are spending two weeks camping on the river visiting, fishing, boating and having a fine time. Mr. and Mrs. Turk, of Kansas City, spent last week here. Several Pleasant Hill parties have made reservations at the hotels here for next week. Luther Mers went over to Eldorado Saturday to visit for a few days with relatives before returning to Pleasant Hill. He had been here a month. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hall, of Guymon Oklahoma, came Tuesday of last week and will spend several weeks here. Mrs. Hall is a sister of Mrs. Julia Weant. Miss Mary Margaret Perkins, of Rushville is the guest of Miss Lorena Rowland at Spring Lake Ranch. Jess Parker and family, Earl Parker Jr. and family and W.H. Blake and family of Pleasant Hill are here for a few weeks, camping and enjoying life - not a sick one in the bunch. Sylvester Weant has been on the sick list for a day or two. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hirni and son and Mrs. Fred Egger and sons of Appleton City spent Sunday here. Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Shrout, of Eldorado, spent Monday and Tuesday here. Mrs. Amelia Dark and son Obe, of Chalk Level, spent Friday with relatives here. The latter is not well yet, but improving slowly. Jake Cave went over to Lowry City to the train Monday. Will spend a few days out, returning about the middle of the week. Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Heiney and son Master John, of Kansas City are spending their vacation here.
