J.W. Gardner, of near Collins, was an Osceola visitor last
Saturday.
John Keller of the Valley church neighborhood was a business visitor
at the county seat Saturday.
James T. Swicegood of Gerster was shaking hands with Osceola friends
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank King, residing a few miles east of Osceola, are the
happy parents of a baby boy, born Sunday, March 25th.
Miss Mary Bea Crook returned from Jefferson City Monday. Miss Crook
was a stenographer under Senator S.M. Snodgrass during the term just
adjourned.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Springstube of Osceola are happy over the arrival,
Sunday, March 25th, of a 9 pound son and heir. Ray says he has already
purchased a screw driver and a pair of pliers for the new mechanic.
On Friday last, a deal was made whereby L.R. Keifer became the owner
of the residence formerly owned by J.R. Nuckles in the south part of
town. The consideration being $4000.00. The people of Osceola will
welcome Mr. Keifer and his family in our midst.
Clyde Polson of the Vista neighborhood was a business visitor at the
county seat Monday.
Mrs. Mayda Barker who has been ill with the flu for the past two
weeks, is up and able to be at her work in F.P. Hostetter's grocery
store.
Attorney Wm. Dollarhide of Osceola in this issue of The Democrat
announces as a candidate for mayor of Osceola,subject to the will of
the voters at the election next Tuesday, April 3rd. Mr. Dollarhide has
many friends in Osceola who will be glad to support him at the coming
election and because of his legal knowledge would no doubt give the
city an efficient business administration.
G.O.L. Dewey of Osceola has announced himself as a candidate for
alderman of the second Ward. Mr. Dewey is a live wire citizen of the
city who is always looking forward to the improvement and betterment
of Osceola. He is capable and competent of taking care of the duties
of this office and is worthy of the confidence and support of his
fellow citizens.
Lee E. Crook and Miss Laura Conrad of Osceola were united in marriage
at the bride’s home in the north part of town last Sunday, March 25th.
The ceremony was performed by Elder H.E. Carpenter, pastor of the
Christian church, and was witnessed only by a few relatives and
intimate friends. Mr. Crook is one of the principal attorneys at law
in Osceola and had lived here many years, therefore is very well
known. Miss Conrad is the daughter of Mrs. H.B. Conrad and is also
well known to the citizens of this city. The Democrat wishes for them
a happy wedded life.
Henry G. Willig of Appleton City and Miss Mary Harlan Lewis of Osceola
were united in marriage Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs H.L. Lewis. The marriage ceremony was
performed by Elder H.E. Carpenter. Immediately after the ceremony the
bride and groom left for Clinton, thence to Kansas City on their
honeymoon.
